The title of this article is a hard one to bite off for a lot of people but it is a very good news and bad news fact. I am sure you know people who aren’t as smart as you but make a lot more money. You probably also know if hard work were a prerequisite then ditch digger would be rich but that is just not the case.

Well then what about honesty? How many people do you know that go to church every Sunday are as honest as the day is long and are still dead broke. If you find what I say depressing, don’t because there is also some good news in this story.

Even though honesty is the only road to take in life it still does not guarantee success and in particular won’t make you rich. So what is the good news in what I have to say? What this means is we all have a right and equal opportunity to be rich.

Being rich is more a result of doing certain things a certain way and it does not take hard work or intelligence. I remember years ago when I had built my first company up to 26 location across Canada and was in and out of planes like they were buses. I was always on the road and boy did I work hard.

Was the money good? You bet it was and I liked that part of the equation. But after I sold out most of my business in the mid eighties I said to myself I don’t ever want to work that hard again to make money like that. By saying this to myself I kept myself making less money for several years. Why because I equated making money to hard work and I never wanted to work that hard again.

No hard work no money. I know there are many people that say this to themselves and it is the kiss of death if you ever want to be rich. The reason it is the kiss of death is if you don’t want to work hard then you’re telling yourself you won’t be rich. That is just not true because as I found out later there are many ways to make lots of money without working hard if you will be open to learning them. One day for some reason I woke and said to myself what do I have to do to make a lot of money without working as hard as I use to.

Now remember this site is all about What You Focus On Grows so once I started to focus on what do I have to  do to make a lot of money without working hard then I was open to ideas to achieve that. Here’s the really good news. I don’t work hard anymore in fact I consider what I do now as not working at all. Do I still make good money? Yo bet I do and it gets better all the time. The money gets better and how I make it gets easier.

I do have another problem though. How am I going to be able to retire if I consider I am not working now? Great problem to have and don’t want a solution because what I do now I will do till the day I die. I love what I do and you should to. You will never work another day in your life when you start doing what you love.

So focus on what you enjoy doing and the rest will fall into place if you are open to new opportunities. Your job is to enjoy yourself for this small amount of time you are on this planet. Now get to work.
