The Secret To Wealth
Although I don’t watch a lot of TV I did get caught up in a new show in Canada called Underdogs. The premise of the show is to help consumers who feel; they have been wronged get satisfaction by cameras rolling and TV host going to the vendor and rectifying the problem.
Sort of reminds me of an old joke that said you know your having a bad day when someone calling on you says “this is 60 Minutes.” There were 3 consumer stories on this hour long show I have to tell you I was riveted from a human consciousness standpoint.
The first story was about a woman I think they said was about 68 years old that was owed a $168.00 refund from the local gas company. The $168.00 had become her total focus to the point it was consuming her very life, in fact her sister was concerned she was going to have a second stroke.
This woman had been trying for months to get satisfaction and this is where the show and show’s host come in and try to rectify the customer complaint on TV by going to the place of business with TV cameras rolling. The gas company executive was confronted with the facts of the case and did in deed give this woman her money back and an apology.
The second story was that of a well known toilet paper company that ran a contest promotion to give away an iPod. You had to purchase their product to get the winning combination of I believe numbers to win.
This contest was won by a young fellow still in high school and as it turns out he had purchased a lot of toilet paper to win the contest. A year goes by having him sending 200 emails and over 12 phone calls to the company and still no iPod.
The toilet paper company is telling the young fellow it was the promotions company who ran the contest and it is the promotion company who is supposed to make good on the prize. By this time his whole high school was involved in the school gymnasium rooting him on to getting him his iPod.
Once again the cameras, show’s host and the young fellow confront the company executive who once again starts with an apology and the young fellow finally getting his Ipod. Well it seems the show is on a winning streak and goes on to the third consumer.
The third and last consumer looks to be a mid thirties family man who had bought a mini van from Ford. It turns out that this particular mini van had turned out to be a lemon to say the least. It had many problems on file with the dealership and even multiple problems during the shooting of the TV segment.
This consumer like the first two had let the situation consume and take over his life and it was all he was focused on. For this segment it had taken a few times for even the camera crew and TV host to be able to finally have a meeting with any one at the Ford Motor Car company. This third try finally got a meeting with a Ford representative but was not able to resolve customer’s complaint. Ford did extend his warranty but did not replace it for another more reliable van as the customer and TV host thought would be fairer.
So I guess you could say it was a 2 out of 3 victory for that episode but here are 3 really interesting points about this shows outcome.
1. Not one of these consumers was able to let go of what had happened and instead let it stress them out and consume their lives.
2. Not one of these big companies was smart enough to turn a negative situation into a positive situation.
3. Not one person directly involved in this whole process was able to focus on how any of these parties could move forward in their lives or day to day businesses.
So let’s deal with each of theses points:
1. Do we really as consumers have nothing better to focus on then being unhappy with consumer goods we have bought and trying to control others to fix our problem? Sounds like a good way to set you up to become a victim in my books. If you can’t spend a few hours a week educating yourself on how to make more money and have an easier life you might want to have a look at that. I mean honestly you are setting yourself up to be a victim when in fact you could using the time to set yourself up to be happy and rich. Is it just me or are most of us really that unconscious.
2. We really have to dole out the stupidity award where stupidity takes a new height and that is the 3 companies that will right off a customer for a few dollars in saved refunds. Let’s get real here what does a thirty second commercial on TV cost? Several thousand dollars last time I checked.
Now were not talking a 30 second promo for these companies we are talking an hour long I hate you rant because you don’t treat your customer’s right. I mean you couldn’t even buy such bad press if you wanted to for any amount of money. If any of these companies would focus more on trying to make customers happy rather that saving a few dollars on refunds they would make more money.
Ford at this moment in history is in a serious financial downward spiral. I can guarantee that if they don’t get their customer service act together they will go the way of the dinosaur. I have seen this phenomenon happen many times. Businesses are created to help people with their problems not create more of them. This is a universal law all 3 companies have broken and there is obviously nobody at Ford conscious enough to understand this principle.
Ford is more than a billion dollar a year in sales company and they just don’t get it. Regardless of whether the customer or the vendor is right unless the company bills in a little extra in costs to make sure all the customers are happy they will be going bye, bye. It is only a matter of time unless they wake up.
3. The last and 3rd point is that not one person from the TV station, any of the consumers or the companies that was doing anything to focus on ideas that would help to move any of these parties forward. Do you know why that is? Because they are all focused on lack, scarcity and fear.
This is one of the biggest myths in our society today. When we have a prosperity consciousness we know there is more than enough to go around and that we live in an expanding universe. When we have a lack consciousness we think we have to get from others because there is not enough to go around. What do you focus on? Lack or prosperity?
It’s easy to tell on this show that everyone is focused on lack. This type of focus breeds, disease, stress, anger and a host of other societal ailments. When we focus on prosperity consciousness we will have health, love, money and an enlightened society.
If you don’t believe we are in an expanding universe take the time to explain to me why in any town in North America 200 years ago compared to now we have so much more. In most towns 200 hundred years ago there was only undeveloped land and now we have trillions of dollars in assets.
We can all be haves rather than have not’s by just focusing on an abundant universe and let go of this lack fearful mentality consciousness. Don’t buy into the naysayer’s uneducated and unconscious lack beliefs for they just don’t know any better.
So rather then focusing on lack we must be the light to help and to lift all to see the next level of prosperity. Our focus must be on the truth of prosperity and abundance and that my friend is the Secret To Wealth.
