Success in Business Means 30 Minutes Daily

Thursday September 27, 2007 by Bob Burnham

Why is it that 95% of businesses fail in the first five years? You would think with all the information and help available to any new business that their success would be virtually assured. How can it be that only a select few have all the success and the rest die slow painful entrepreneurial deaths?

The answer is a simple one and the solution is more complex. You see most new business owners won’t put the time into learning something new each day to help them in their business. Instead they keep doing they same thing each day and expecting different results. By the way is that not the definition of insanity?

I always remember Earl Nightingale talking about how people would whine and complain when the company they had been working with for 25 years suddenly lays them off without any warning and leave these people devastated and stuck. They would whine and cry ‘what am I going to do now, I have no other skills or training and it is hopeless.

Earl pointed out in his ever so eloquent way that had these people studied something for even an hour per day for the last 25 years they would all have 3 PHD’s by now. But no these people waited and did nothing.

This is the same with I am sorry to say all too many new business owners. They  learn a little bit when they first start their businesses and then never bother to learn anything new to keep their businesses growing and healthy. They leave it to long before they realize that the world around them is evolving but they are not.

What they don’t realize is had they spent 30 minutes per day learning something new about their business they would be in the upper echelons of business success. That is it, 30 minutes a day to guarantee your success. We pay thousands for business insurance but most won’t put 30 minutes a day into insuring that their businesses will be around next year.

Everything you see in our world was built with one brick at a time. The key is you can’t build anything of great significance using the same brick over and over. Put your focus into 30 minutes a day of learning new specialized knowledge because you will never solve your problems with the same mind that created them. Remember! What You Focus On Grows.
