Why is it that 95% of businesses fail in the first five years? You would think with all the information and help available to any new business that their success would be virtually assured. How can it be that only a select few have all the success and the rest die slow painful entrepreneurial deaths?

The answer is a simple one and the solution is more complex. You see most new business owners won’t put the time into learning something new each day to help them in their business. Instead they keep doing they same thing each day and expecting different results. By the way is that not the definition of insanity?

Many of us have at one time or another had goals we wanted to achieve but unfortunately most of us don’t achieve them. Of course the leadership Guru’s preach you must have goals because if you don’t have a destination you won’t get there. They are right but unfortunately only partly right.

The reason most people don’t accomplish their goals is because their goals are not who they are. Let me explain. If you were an Olympic runner how would you ‘be’ or live your life? You would ‘be’ a person who trained many hours per day, had a very disciplined workout regiment and breathed and slept Olympic running. Your passion would be that of an Olympic runner.

Being an entrepreneur most of my life has meant I have learned a lot of great information. How has the great information helped me? Well first let me say that I love to learn but on the path to success some of the information has probably hurt me more than helped me. Let me explain.

I have been a entrepreneur since I was 12 years old and have been running my current business for over 30 years. Article writing was not a big part of my day to day activities until I decided to help some other businesses with the information that has made my businesses successful.

I have to admit that I was a little reluctant and intimidated by the many good article writers I read on a daily basis but I have to tell you that you can not let that stop you. There will always be someone who is a better writer than you no matter what level you are at so you have to let it go and just decide that good enough is good enough.

Yes, it’s true. The secret behind my own success in business, and that of so many people who are at the top of their fields is to send loving thoughts to everyone you interact with. You might be thinking, “Certainly he doesn’t mean everyone.” Oh, yes I do. Even the most disgruntled customers can be converted to adoring fans when you employ this secret genuinely and consistently.

You know how all of the gurus tell you success is easy? Well, failure is easy too. In fact, it’s easier. It’s so easy in fact, that people do it every day, every minute, and every second. In setting goals, the surefire way to fail every time is to follow these five easy steps:

1. Lack Conviction
Goal setting without absolute conviction that you can attain the goals you set is never successful. When you begin any endeavor with even a small measure of disbelief, you are sabotaging your goal before you begin.

You’ve read the sales letters, heard the audio sales pitches, and seen the books pushing the idea of multiple streams of income. Gurus of information marketing maintain that you can become wealthy when you divide your efforts and capital into multiple areas. It may sound good at first. After all, don’t all of the financial experts recommend diversification of your portfolio? That’s pretty much the same concept, right? Wrong.

Many of these “get rich quick” programs recommend investing in real estate, stocks, and you own Internet company in order to “maximize” your earning potential. A diversified retirement plan is one thing, but building three separate businesses – and succeeding at all of them – is something else entirely.

A friend of mine worked on the security team for the recent visit by the Dali Lama to Canada. The Dali Lama personally met with each person in attendance. My friend said the energy vibrating from this man was truly amazing.

The Dali Lama also gave everyone a prayer scarf and also a small book of information that he personally autographed for each person. I quickly read the small book when it was shown to me at a house party. There was a question in the book that asked:

Q. What is the purpose of life?
A. To be happy!

Most people look at me funny when I tell them I haven’t had a job in over thirty years. I understand; who wouldn’t think thirty years is way too long for unemployment? Me, that’s who. Me and every successful business owner on the planet.

In fact, I really only had one job in my life, and that was for about one year during my teens. I realized early on that my job, and any job for that matter, was not going to get me where I wanted to go. A job could never give me the income, freedom, and control over my own life that I knew I couldn’t live without.

Consciousness level is always going to be a determining factor on how much money you make as a business owner. Your consciousness is your level of awareness and your level of awareness will determine how much money you will make in your business.

There are many examples of how a higher conscious level will bring in more money to your business but let me just give you a few simple examples of how it can work in my industry. I am in the fire and flood restoration industry and we also do painting and carpet cleaning for residential home owners.
